Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado and settled down in Aspen. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado have inspired many people to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado like John Denver." In the year 2011, Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. He is now the symbol of Colorado to people around the world. On my trips I've encountered people from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell that you're from Colorado the first words they say are"Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit following a performance with a smaller folk groups. It was co-written by and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew the song would be a top 10 hit. The song was recorded just a few weeks after it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
